Before long, a Monroe County Grand Jury is expected to rule on whether the Rochester Police Officers who restrained Daniel Prude before his death will face any charges.

Groups demanding police reform and protesting against Prude’s death are expected to protest depending on the outcome.

Rochester Police Chief Cynthia Herriott-Sullivan said in a news conference on Wednesday that police support the rights of people to peacefully protest. But if protests escalate in ways that threaten public safety and keeping the peace, she says police will disperse the crowds.

There are multiple investigations underway into the conduct of officers during protests last year against the deaths of Daniel Prude and George Floyd.
