Rochester Police say the man they were trying to arrest when violence broke out earlier this week on Wilkins Street has turned himself in. Meanwhile, they’ve released the name of the person who was shot in a scuffle after grabbing a handgun that was dropped in the street.

Randy Love of Rochester is the man police were trying to arrest when they approached a group of people standing on Wilkins Street Sunday night. Love had an illegal handgun and struggled with the arresting officer. He dropped his gun during the fight. It was grabbed by 21-year-old Christopher Turner of Rochester, who was then shot by the officer.

The 26-year-old Love got away at the time but turned himself in accompanied by his lawyer yesterday. He’s been charged with criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.

Turner was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and menacing a police officer.
