Rochester police made arrests over the weekend in a carjacking and in an October 5th shooting.

Saturday evening, a victim reported her vehicle stolen at gunpoint as she arrived home on Hamilton Street. Officers spotted the stolen car a few hours later on Parsells Avenue and tried to stop it. The driver and passenger jumped out and ran, but the driver was caught. A police officer suffered a leg injury during the chase.

Police say 26-year-old Jayquan Mobley was arrested and taken to the Monroe County Jail on charges of Assault, Criminal Posession of Stolen Property and Resisting Arrest. He was also served with a warrant as an absconding parole violator from a 2013 robbery.

On Saturday, officers caught up with a suspect in the shooting of a man at Jefferson Avenue and Champlain Streets. The 50-year-old victim is recovering. Police have now arrested 38-year-old Brian Jones as the suspected shooter and recovered a pistol loaded with 16 rounds.
