Police in Geneva are looking for a black Toyota Sienna minivan with a large, white scratch on the front end in connection with an attempt to kidnap a child on Monday (similar van in photo, minus the front end damage).
A department spokesman says a 13-year-old boy was walking home from the Geneva Middle School about 3:20 Monday afternoon when he saw the black minivan in the area of Carter Road and Oak Street. The boy continued walking on Pultney Street near William Street when the van parked behind him. A man about six feet tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and orange work gloves, got out of the van and grabbed the boy by the hand. The suspect didn’t say anything.
The boy was able to get away and ran to a nearby home. The minivan was last seen in the area of Pultney and William Streets.
Geneva police are searching the area and checking video cameras on home surveillance systems for anything they might find. There have been no similar reports at this time.
