Geneseo Police are releasing more information about a deadly car crash over the weekend. Police say 28-year-old Michael Bellonte was driving on State Route 39
yesterday morning when he rear-ended another vehicle, causing it to spin off the road and land on a metal fence.
The driver of the vehicle, 74-year-old Donald Lackey was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger 73-year-old Nancy Lackey was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Lackey was a SUNY Geneseo retiree and well known in the village.
Bellonte was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injures. Village police say he threw a punch at an officer and ran away during their investigation…which is ongoing.
