Irondequoit Police have identified the Irondequoit High School freshman struck by a car while walking to school Thursday morning as 14-year-old Michael Lynch. There’s no update yet on his condition.

Police said earlier that the teenager was in “very serious condition” after surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was hit while crossing Cooper Road near the school at about 8:00 a.m.

A police spokeswoman says the teenager was walking across Cooper Road near Winona Boulevard when a northbound vehicle struck him, about two blocks from the school. Police say speed did not appear to be a factor and the driver wasn’t distracted.
