Rochester police arrested 25 people, mostly on vehicle and traffic relations charges following Sunday night’s ending of the Puerto Rican Festival.

Police closed a stretch of North Clinton Avenue and for the first time volunteers worked with city officials to help people leave the celebration safely. The end of the festival traditionally turns into impromptu street parades, drag races and street corner parties which block traffic in northeast Rochester as the crowds head home.

Police say no officers or civilians were injured. They used a combination of verbal warnings, pepper balls and an LRAD acoustic device to break up crowds.
