pittsford-town-hallPittsford Town Supervisor Bill Smith has contacted the New York State Attorney General’s Office for advice about the white supremacist fliers turning up in the town’s residential neighborhoods.

Smith sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (copy below), asking what the town can do to stop the unwelcome messages. He says the the pro-white power web page they promote now includes a fundraising appeal, which could violate state licensing and registration requirements.

The town is already working with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office trying to identify who is scattering the fliers. They’re strips of paper, typically taped to stones so they won’t blow away, and dropped in people’s driveways. More were found the weekend before last.

Smith says their message has no place in the Town of Pittsford.
