Voters in the Pittsford Central School District approved a slimmed-down school budget on the second try. The vote Tuesday night came in Yes: 3,107 – No: 1,234.
Since this revised budget came in at less than the two percent New York State tax cap, only a simple majority was needed for approval. The budget that failed called for exceeding the tax cap in order to fund full-day kindergarten for Pittsford kids. It failed to get the 60 percent needed to pass.
The new budget drops the full-day Kindergarten plan, leaving Pittsford one of the few districts in the state without it.
