On Earth Day, the Town of Pittsford opened a new nature preserve along the Erie Canal Towpath Trail. It includes some 20 acres of natural wetlands, woodlands and meadows along the Towpath Trail near the town/Village of Pittsford line, and it adds to a previous 10 acres of wildnerness land that was previously preserved.
The new park is unspoiled land that had been slated for development, but was preserved with a combination of town and state funds. It includes an elevated boardwalk trail allowing access without damage to the wetlands and also connects the Towpath Trail with the State’s Auburn Trail.
