Pittsford Village trustees didn’t take a vote last night on plans for a one year construction moratorium in the village. Their non-decision came after people jammed into a public hearing on the issue, held at a Pittsford church to give more room for everyone who wanted to speak.

The Village Board says they need more comment before they can take a vote.

Roger and Betsy Powers of Powers farms was there, urging the board not to approve the moratorium. They say it would sink the project they’ve spent years working on with Wilmorite, to develop the old feed mill at 25 Schoen Place on the canal into a small hotel and spa. Wilmorite Senior Vice President Dennis Wilmot also attended the meeting, saying they won’t go forward with purchasing the land if they can’t build.

Dozens of people spoke in favor of the project, and a few against it. The four-acre site is mostly empty buildings now.
