The annual ranking of public high schools across New York State by Business First puts the two Pittsford Central high schools on top of the list for the Rochester region…but they’ve switched places.
The Buffalo-based newspaper ranks schools on their last four years of Regents test data and graduation rates from the New York State Department of Education. It ranked the 78 public high schools in the eight counties around Rochester.
First place goes to Pittsford Mendon this year, with Pittsford Sutherland in second place. Third is Honeoye Falls-Lima, Penfield Senior High takes fourth place and Brighton High School comes fifth.
The two Pittsford schools have traded places back-and-forth several times in these annual rankings. Sutherland was tops the past two years; Mendon was tops from 2010 to 2013 and now is on top again.
