In a letter to parents, Pittsford Central School District Superintendent Michael Pero says two alleged racial incidents didn’t happen.
Family of two Greece Arcadia soccer players said Pittsford-Mendon players made “monkey noises” and one player called an Arcadia player the “N-word” during games on September 29th.
Pero says the PCSD interviewed students, site supervisors, coaches, players and game officials. They analyzed video and audio recordings of the boys and girls soccer games and shared them with their counterparts in Greece.
Pero’s letter says the Mendon student fan section was loud, and some people called out an Arcadia player by name. But their behavior was not racial in nature or racially motivated. It occurred in response to taunting by Arcadia players. They also found no evidence that the serious racial slur was used by a Mendon player.
The district has asked the MHS girls soccer team to refrain from posting on social media about the matter. During the time of the week-long investigation, Pero says judgements were formed and voiced by people who did not have complete information or the chance to review the tapes.
