As school districts assess what’s in the new state budget, Pittsford Central says it’s not yet clear if it will be able to finally offer a full-day kindergarten program.
Superintendent Michael Pero says on the district website that the budget appears to include three years of FDK conversion aid, two years less than proposed in the Assembly version of the budget supported by the Pittsford District. Pero says they’re analyzing the school aid numbers and seeing if they can hold full-day kindergarten startup costs to a minimum that would let the program start in the fall.
As approved, the state budget appears to give Pittsford Central operating funds for full-day kindergarten, but no coverage for the startup costs.
