The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says a suspicious death investigation in Phelps is now a homicide.
A man’s body was found on Route 96 Tuesday night between Hayes Road and County Road 6. The sheriff’s office announced Wednesday morning that the man died of a gunshot to the upper body. The victim was in his late 20s or early 30s. Deputies are still working to identify the victim.
Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area is asked to contact the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
