The Rochester Region will begin Phase 4 of reopening this coming Friday…but Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce CEO Bob Duffy says that won’t include malls, gyms, movie theaters and casinos…at least not at first.
Duffy says malls and theaters will open DURING phase 4, but not on Friday. Duffy says the regional “Control Panel” that he sits on will monitor local coronavirus infection rates and hospital occupancy rates and report that information to the governor’s office, which will make the decision on when the other businesses may reopem.
Museums and many sorts of art exhibitions are allowed to reopen as of Friday.
Wilmorite, the owner of the Marketplace, Eastview and Greece-Ridge Center malls, issued a statement saying it’s disappointed with the governor’s decision. Wilmorite says its locally-owned stores and franchise owners can’t withstand this shutdown.
