Rochester firefighters used a ladder to rescue a person trapped on a porch roof by a fire Sunday afternoon.
The fire broke out at 86 1/2 Alexander Street, and firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the rear of the building and the resident on the porch roof of the 2 1/2 story building. They rescued the person from the porch roof and another person exited the smoke-filled house as they arrived.
The fire was centered in the kitchen, and was out in about 15 minutes. No firefighters were injured, and the person who was exposed to smoke refused to go to the hospital. The cause remains under investigation.
