The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says the man struck and killed by a deputy’s patrol car last week was 32-year-old Wesley Soper of Perinton.
Deputy Michael Houlihan was at the intersection of Routes 250 and 31 in Perinton when his attention was diverted to a possibly suspicious car in a bank parking lot. His patrol car struck Mr. Soper, who died after being brought to the hospital. Preliminary investigation shows the patrol car was going 47 miles per hour, just two mph over the limit.
The New York Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigations is investigating Soper’s death under state law. The sheriff’s office also continues its investigation.
