The Town of Penfield says it has completed the purchase of the former Shadow Pines golf course from Dolomite. The purchase includes the more than 200 acres of the golf course plus the Clark House, adjacent buildings and the six acres of land they stand on.
Penfield is assessing the condition of the buildings and grounds and removing any hazards they find, mainly damaged trees and dangling limbs left by recent storms. That work is already underway and should take until summer to complete.
The town has designated the land for general municipal use, allowing for open space, passive and active recreation. There are also plans under development for a community center, library, or a lodge and other public facilities, but those plans haven’t been finalized. The town is putting together a task force to study and recommend the best uses for the land.
