Rochester falls to Lehigh Valley, 4-3, as the Phantoms go 2-for-5 on the power play.

ALLENTOWN, PA. — The Rochester Americans opened a 2-game visit against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Friday night with a loss in Allentown, PA. The two team go at it again on Saturday night before the Amerks travel to Hershey for a Sunday evening game against the Bears.

Justin Bailey put the Amerks in front with his 8th goal of the season 5 minutes into the first period. Evan Rodrigues and Alex Nylander assisted on the play.

Nick Baptiste made it a 2-0 contest as he tallied his 11th goal of the campaign. Cal O’Reilly and Cole Schneider collected assists.

The Phantoms cut the lead in half with 13 seconds remaining in the period. The hosts grabbed the lead scoring 27 seconds apart in the second stanza against Amerks netminder Linus Ullmark for a 3-2 advantage.

Lehigh Valley tacked on a second power play goal, both on delay of game penalties, to double-up Rochester, 4-2, late in the second period.

Midway through the third session, Schneider bagged his 10th goal of the season on a power play to cut the deficit to 4-3. Casey Nelson and O’Reilly drew assists.

Rochester was outshot by Lehigh Valley, 48-21, as Baptist led the Amerks with 6 shots.

Ullmark ended the game with 44 saves.
