The City of Rochester has announced a deal for Pegula Sports and Entertainment to manage the downtown Blue Cross-Blue Shield War Memorial Arena.
Two weeks ago, the city dropped SMG as the arena operator. Mayor Lovely Warren says PSE will take over all aspects of the arena including concessions. She calls it a game changer which will bring more sporting and entertainment events to the city.
This is a temporary agreement, which Warren is hoping to extend into a long-term contract. Rob Minter of Pegula sports says it’s a good fit for the owners of the Bills and the Sabres.
City Council gets the proposal on July 24th.
