The coaching staff assembled by Sean McDermott has left a good impression on Bills owner Terry Pegula.

Buffalo Bills Insider Chris Brown provides the details. Here is his report:

His new head coach has only been on the job for about a month, but Terry Pegula is encouraged by what he’s witnessed from Sean McDermott.

“Early impression is he’s exactly what we thought when we interviewed him,” said Pegula in an appearance on the John Murphy Show. “He’s very, very thorough and a hard worker. He’s a good person. It’s showing already.”

Pegula confirmed that some of the names that McDermott mentioned in his interview for the job regarding assistant coaches are men who wound up on his Buffalo coaching staff.

“A lot of experience and he doesn’t have a problem saying that this is his first job as a head coach,” said Pegula of McDermott. “He wanted guys with experience if he could get them, and he has accomplished that with some of his coaches. And if you notice these guys are character guys like Sean.”

Not watching Super Bowl LI in person
Pegula was in Houston throughout the course of Super Bowl week. Come Sunday however, he won’t be at the NRG Center to take in Super Bowl LI between the Falcons and Patriots. His reason is simple.

“We’re not in the game,” said Pegula flatly. “My wife is always asking me, ‘Why don’t you go to the game?’ And I always tell her, ‘We’re not in it.’ It’s tough not to be in it.”

Pegula plans to fly to his home in Florida after picking up his one daughter and grandchild in Pittsburgh.

During his week in Houston, Pegula spent some of his time with other NFL owners and he discovered his decision to watch the game in the comfort of his home was the more common choice among the NFL’s membership.

“My own personal poll tells me there are about 10 to 14 owners who will be at the game,” he said. “So I’m in the majority.”
