The PawSox protested in the eighth inning of Wednesday’s 3-2 Rochester victory.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Pawtucket Red Sox have opted not to submit an official protest to the International League as required by International League rules following Wednesday’s game vs. the Rochester Red Wings at Frontier Field.

Pawtucket manager Kevin Boles put the game under protest with one on and nobody out in the top of the eighth inning and Rochester leading 3-2 following confusion during a Red Wings pitching change.

First base umpire and crew chief Max Guyll called for right-handed reliever Pat Light from the Rochester bullpen when Wings manager Mike Quade wanted left-hander Ryan O’Rourke. After discussion, Quade was allowed to bring in O’Rourke, prompting the protest from Boles.

The Red Wings won the game 3-2 after the PawSox left the bases loaded in the eighth and ninth innings.
