In a surprise announcement Saturday morning, the Buffalo Sabres stated that they’ve suspended forward Patrik Berglund indefinitely for failure to report to the team. Here is the Sabres press release on the situation:
“The Buffalo Sabres today announced that forward Patrik Berglund has been suspended indefinitely by the organization due to failure to report to the team. There will be no further information or comment at this time.”
Berglund has missed the last two games because he was “sick” and hasn’t practiced in about a week. It’s been a rough season for the big Swede in his first season with the Sabres. He’s struggled to produce and find a role on the team that fits his skill set.
The 30-year-old forward has three years remaining on his contract after this season with a $3.85 million cap hit.
We’ll update this story further with any details that become available on the situation.
