The ongoing drought conditions in Western New York have led the Village of Lyndonville in Orleans County to declare a water shortage, banning car washing and lawn watering until further notice.
A joint notice from the village mayor and the supervisor of the Town of Yates says the entire area served by their joint water system is under water conservation and use restrictions. In addition to watering and car washing, people could be ticketed for washing down driveways or steps with a hose, filling swimming pools or fountains and for failing to fix a leak.
They say the restrictions will continue until the village can replenish its water supply.
