The Honeoye-Richmond Fire Department says an Ontario County home was heavily damaged by fire Monday afternoon, in a blaze that appears to have started in the kitchen.
The Ontario County Fire Coordinator says a 13-year-old boy was the only person home, and he escaped when flames started around the kitchen stove and microwave. The home on County Road 33 was at a remote location and firefighters had to truck in water. Five additional fire companies were called in to help, and it took nearly four hours to get it under control.
The family is insured, but lost their two-year-old Beagle-Labrador mix in the fire.
