Investigators in Ontario County say one person is dead and a second possible victim is being sought after a house fire in Naples early this morning.
Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero said a driver passing the house on County Road 36 called 911 to report the fire just before 4:00 a.m. He said two people lived in the house: 64-year-old Michael Schenk, and his 94-year-old landlord Marian Fleischmann. The body found by investigators after the fire is believed to be Schenk.
Sheriff Povero says the two-story home was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters and deputies arrived. Deputies couldn’t get in to look for victims until the fire was knocked down.
Investigators remain on scene looking through the rubble and investigating the cause, although the sheriff says nothing appears suspicious so far.
