Authorities are saying a Brockport man was distracted when he drove through a stop sign in Chili, leading to a deadly two-car crash this morning at the corner of Morgan and Scottsville-Chili roads.

Authorities say 36-year-old David Monacelli of Brockport wasn’t paying attention when he drove through a stop sign and hit a car with two women and two children inside. The impact ejected eight-year-old Kael Nicolosi from the car. The Scottsville boy was pronounced dead after arriving at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Kael’s mother, Tiffany Nicolosi, was riding in the front seat and was seriously injured. So was nine-year-old cousin Keith Nicolosi, who was also in the back seat. Both are in critical condition.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Captain Jeffrey DelGudio says it was a tough scene for first responders to see.

The Monacelli suffered minor injuries, as did the driver of the car he hit, Valerie Lewis, She’s Tiffany Nicolosi’s mother.

Authorities say no charges have been filed yet.
