For the past couple of weeks, Ogden Police Chief Chris Mears has been trying to get people into the “9:00 P.M. Routine” over the department’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
The routine is what the department wants to see everyone doing before they turn in for the night: Lock your doors, lock your car, lock your shed. They’ve been posting nightly videos also reminding people to close and lock garage doors and to make sure nothing of value can be seen through their car windows.
The department says people will leave wallets or purses sitting on car seats, and with people out at night especially in the summer that’s an invitation to trouble.
They’re hoping the “9:00 P.M. Routine” will reach as many people as possible.
