A Genesee County deputy shot and killed a man who was allegedly firing shots outside a restaurant in Pembroke last night.
State Police have now taken over investigation of the officer-involved shooting. The victim hasn’t been identified yet.
In a news conference, Genesee County Undersheriff Greg Walker said deputies were called to the Indian Falls Log Cabin Restaurant on Gilmore Road for a report of shots being fired in and outside of the building. The first deputy to arrive approached the suspect in the parking lot, and the suspect then pointed a gun at te deputy. The deputy then shot and killed the suspect.
Walker says there’s body camera footage of the incident which is being reviewed. He says this is the first officer-involved shooting in the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office in more than 40 years.
