A Rochester police officer broke his leg and others were stung after they disturbed a bees nest during a foot chase in the Bay Street area Wednesday night.

Bay Street was closed at Ackerman Street during the pursuit.

Police say they tried to stop a car on Firth Street around 10:00 p.m. for a traffic violation, but the driver took off as officers approached. The driver bailed out and ran on Ackerman Street. One officer broke his leg while jumping a fence in pursuit of the suspect, and several others stumbled into the bees nest and were stung.

Police are still looking for the driver, but apprehended a woman who was a passenger in the car. Two guns were recovered and she was charged with their possession.
