The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of this week’s drowning in Oatka Creek as 18-year-old Tyreece Johnson of Rochester.
Johnson lost his life when he jumped into the creek and swam to the center of the stream where he got in trouble and went under. People who witnessed the incident went in and tried to save him, but were beaten back by the current and couldn’t find him.
His body was recovered by the Scottsville Fire Department.
