Gov. Cuomo, Onondaga County Exec Mahoney and fair officials smash ice sculpture showing old attendance record.

The New York State Fair closed Monday evening, breaking the record for attendance in its 175 year run.

Governor Cuomo’s office says 1,906,524 people passed through the main gate by the time it closed at 4:00 p.m. on Labor day. The record-breaking visitor was number 1,011,249…one of a family of four from the Syracuse area who came in shortly after 10:00 a.m.

They got a personal greeting from Governor Andrew Cuomo, four lifetime fair passes and a number of other gifts.
