New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is launching an investigation into whether propane suppliers across New York tried to drive up prices during last week’s arctic cold snap.

Schneiderman says his office received dozens of complaints statewide from people who heat with propane complaining about long delays in getting deliveries and possible price gouging.

The A-G says a lot of New Yorkers depend on timely delivery of propane gas or oil to heat their homes. He says his office was able to sort out a number of situations and help people get their heat back on. But he says there were systemic failures that left too many people in the cold.
