E-cigarettes are now banned at schools throughout New York State under a bill signed into law by Governor Cuomo.
The new law takes effect immediately. It makes it illegal to use e-cigarettes at public and private schools. The governor says that’s because nicotine use in any form has shown to be damaging to teens.
A state Health Department survey shows the number of high school students using e-cigs nearly doubled from a little over ten-percent in 2014 to more than 20 percent in 2016.
