Rochester police say a man in his 50s was shot to death late Thursday afternoon on North Clinton Avenue at Siebert Place. That’s only a few hundred yards from the NorthSTAR Social and Emotional Learning Center, which was forced into lockout as a precaution while police investigated the homicide.

Police said students were not in danger. It marks the 59th homicide of the year in Rochester.

Police said the homicide happening in broad daylight on a street filled with people in a commercial area is frustrating. Half a dozen homicides have taken place in the same general area in recent months.
