Gasoline prices are now over a dollar more than they were a year ago, with AAA reporting the statewide average for New York at $3.80 per gallon, up five cents from a week ago. A year ago it was $2.72.
Rochester’s regional average is $3.79, up four cents in the past week. Buffalo is up five cents at $3.75 and Syracuse is up four cents, also at $3.75.
Demand for gas was up last week as families traveled during the winter break. At the same time, crude oil prices continue rising after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine.
