A judge has denied a Greece woman’s attempt to get her federal prison sentence reduced.

Dawn Nguyen was convicted in both federal and state courts of buying the firearms used by William Spengler to murder two firefighters in an ambush on Christmas Eve of 2012. Now 28, she’s completed her state prison sentence and has been moved to federal prison to begin serving her eight-year term. She’s due for release in 2021.

Nguyen’s lawyers filed a motion in federal court in Rochester, saying rulings in federal criminal cases since she was sentenced showed it was unjust not to allow both terms to be served at the same time.

The judge threw her motion out.
