PHILADELPHIA, PA. — The National Lacrosse League has announced that the 2019 Expansion Draft, between the New York Riptide and Rochester Knighthawks, will make their picks on Tuesday, July 9.
Ahead of the Expansion Draft, each of the 9 league teams will designate 11 protected players before the June 25 deadline. The two expansion teams then are allowed to select eligible players who are not on the protected list.
The Rochester Knighthawks will select 1st overall, as the result of the Expansion Draft Coin Toss which took place during halftime of NLL Finals Game 1 in Buffalo. There will be 11 rounds and a maximum of 22 players selected in the Expansion Draft.
The Entry Draft will take place in September with the Riptide owning the No. 1 pick, also via the Coin Toss, with the Knighthawks getting the No. 2 selection.
