Another year of circling the NHL Draft Lottery on our calendars

By Chad DeDominicis / Diebytheblade.com

It didn’t seem like it would be the case at the end of November, but here we are in the middle of March circling the date for the NHL Draft Lottery.

The league announced yesterday that the lottery will be held on Tuesday, April 9. This will be the day before the playoffs start which is a change from how they’ve done it in the past on the opening night of the playoffs.

It’ll take place at 8 PM EST on the 9th. The event will be broadcasted on NBC Sports, Sportsnet, and TVA.

The Sabres currently sit ninth entering play tonight if the lottery were held today. That would give them a five percent chance at first overall and 16 percent chance of moving into the top three.

The prizes at the top of the draft this year are Jack Hughes from the US National Development Program and Kaapo Kakko from TPS in Finland.
