There are three certainties in life:

Death, taxes, and New England beats Buffalo.

The Patriots have won 33 out of 38 matchups with the Bills since the 2000 NFL season, causing the team from suburban Boston to become hated figures in Western New York.

If you want proof of this, all you have to do is check out the urinals at drinking establishments throughout the Buffalo area. Let’s just say they’re the only places you can find New England garb in the region.

The Patriots’ dominance over the Bills has been long-standing and tiresome, and thankfully, it’s all coming to an end…

… if one NFL.com writer is to be believed.

According to CBS Sports host and NFL.com columnist Adam Schein, Buffalo is for real this year. The pundit praised head coach Sean McDermott and quarterback Josh Allen throughout the offseason, at one point claiming that he was “obsessed” with the team.

The Bills’ Week 1 win over the New York Jets only reaffirmed Schein’s’ thoughts on the team.

“It’s well-documented that I’m in on this team,” Schein wrote. “I pegged Buffalo as my Cinderella team in April and picked the Bills to make the playoffs in August. And their effort on Sunday undoubtedly bolstered my feelings.

“The toughness, togetherness and talent was on display, as the Bills erased a 16-0 third-quarter deficit to beat the rival Jets on the road. Don’t be surprised. This is what the Bills are under Sean McDermott. This is what to expect from this defense late in games. This is what to expect from the Josh Allen-John Brown connection.”

Schein expects Buffalo to continue building momentum, something that will allow the team to upset the Patriots in Week 4 en route to an undefeated start.

“I’m calling for a 4-0 Bills start, which will include a win over the Patriots,” Schein said.

Buffalo is set to face off against the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins after its Week 4 meeting with New England, its Week 6 bye sandwiched in between the two games.

Both of those contests are winnable. If the Bills are able to start the season with a 6-0 record with games against the Jets and Dolphins remaining, a postseason berth is not out of the realm of possibilities.

Fingers crossed.
