Police in Newark say a woman died after being pinned under a tractor.
It happened about 12:45 on Bloom Road while Ray Boyd was trying to jump start his tractor. His wife, 59-year-old Carol Boyd, was sitting in a lawn chair nearby. Village Police say the tractor suddenly started and went into reverse. The tractor struck Mrs. Boyd and she became pinned underneath it. Newark firefighters freed her and she was taken to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, where she died.
Newark Police Chief David Christler says no criminal charges will be filed. He called it a “tragic and unforeseen” accident.
