New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says New Yorkers rank fourth in the nation in credit card debt, owing a total of more than $58 billion according to a report released today.
DiNapoli says credit card debt actually declined from the start of the recession in 2008 to 2013, but then the trend reversed and rose over the last four years to nearly 20 percent above the national average.
DiNapoli says more than eight percent of that debt is delinquent by 90 days or more. He says people should manage their credit card debt and be sure to pay on time.
