New Yorkers are less confident about the economy, according to the latest New York State Index of Consumer Sentiment.
The Siena College Research Institute says the index for the first quarter of 2018 stands at just over 87, down more than five points from the end of last year. That’s 14 points less than the national average.
The New York index is still above the break-even point at which optimism and pessimism balance. That indicates New Yorkers are still positive on the economy, but less so than three months ago.
Concern about the future is highest Upstate.
