Governor Cuomo says he’ll have state agencies study whether it makes sense for New York to legalize recreational marijuana use. The state already allows medical marijuana, although not in any smokeable form.

The governor isn’t saying whether he’s for-or-against legalization. But he asks with Massachusetts legalizing marijuana and New Jersey considering it, what would happen to New York being in the middle?

Cuomo says he wants the New York State Police, the State Health Department and other agencies to study the health and economic impacts.

A recent study found 62 percent of all New York voters support legalization.
