New York State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker says the state will temporarily hold off on administering the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine after reports that some people who received it reported suffering blood clots.
Zucker says New York will follow the CDC and FDA recommendations in pausing use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine immediately. All appointments for the J&J vaccine will be temporarily switched to the Pfizer vaccine.
Zucker says he remains in constant touch with the federal health authorities and will update when new information is available.
