New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood, and eight other attorneys general, are suing to block distribution of plans for 3D printed guns.
The suit is against both the Trump Administration, the Second Amendment Foundation and Defense Distributed. The company has posted downloadable plans for a 3D printed gun on the internet since 2015. It became the subject of a legal battle with the government that ended when the Trump Justice Department settled the case a month ago and a court ruled the plans could go back online.
Attorney General Underwood says the plastic guns have no serial numbers, are untraceable and violate the federal background check requirement because anybody with access to a printer can make one. She says that gives criminals access to guns at the touch of a button and threatens the safety of New Yorkers.
