New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says he will move against any attempt by the Trump Administration to roll back the Clean Power Plan ordered by the EPA during the Obama Administration.

President Trump signed a sweeping order Tuesday ending what he calls “federal overreach” and “job-killing regulations.” He calls the plan that orders major carbon reductions on coal burning power plants a “war on coal.”

But Schneiderman says it wasn’t the Obama Administration that forced  the Clean Power Plan…it was New York and a coalition of ten Northeastern states that sued the EPA in 2006. They demanded action against pollution crossing their borders. Schneiderman says the court approved settlement of that lawsuit required the EPA to issue a climate change plan…which they did.

Schneiderman says the Trump Administration can’t simply eliminate the plan; they’ll have to “repeal and replace.” If they don’t, he says New York will go to court demanding the order be enforced.
