Rochester’s new railroad and inter-city bus station will have a clock that once graced the concourse of the city’s 1914 New York Central station.
Congresswoman Louise Slaughter says her staff located one of the original clocks from the 1914 Claude Bragdon-designed station that was demolished in 1965. Had it lasted a decade longer, it would likely have been preserved and renovated for new use like other historic Rochester buildings. The new station shares some of its architectural signatures.
The new station is set to open in a few weeks on Central Avenue in Rochester.
