The Rochester City School Board will name Beatriz LeBron and Melanie Funchess to fill vacancies left by former Commissioner Malik Evans and retiring Commissioner Mary Adams. A board spokeswoman says both will be nominated at the January 25th school board meeting. They’ll be introduced at a press conference tomorrow afternoon
LeBron is a community health worker with Rochester Regional Health and a former teacher who ran for the school board in November but lost. Funchess is Director of Community Engagement with the Mental Health Association of Rochester and a nationally-known consultant on culturally responsive practices. She has four children currently attending city schools.
